Big Ideas for Small Gardens

By | Block Paving, Gardening, Landscaping, Small Garden, Uncategorized | No Comments

Even though property houses in Britain have rocketed, the average size of a new build three bed roomed home is four square meters smaller than Government recommended guidelines. Along with shrinking properties comes a smaller garden. As the saying goes, size isn’t everything.

Small gardens may require more thought than larger gardens, however small gardens have many advantages including only requiring low levels of maintenance. Here at Right Cut Tree and Garden Services we have some great ideas for making your small garden beautiful including design tips, planting advice and savvy buys for modern gardens, pretty patios, tiny terraces and bijou balconies.

Pave your way

Gravel, stone paving and woodchip have become popular choices of flooring for gardens offering great benefits including low levels of maintenance but upmost their low cost.

Paint your walls white

Many homeowners paint the interior walls of their home white as the colour is renowned for creating the illusion of a bigger space, so why not do the same in your garden.

Go upwards not outwards

To preserve precious space in your garden, trellises are ideal. A trellis is ideal for adding extra colour, but also for space saving. Climbing plants require little if no floor space and can provide your small garden with a beautiful focal point.

It’s all in the furniture

With minimal space to play with, folding furniture is not only space saving, but also very affordable.

Landscape your small garden

Small garden spaces can be made to look contemporary with the introduction of a mix of materials and finishes. Strong landscaped lines, wood stained decking can create a structure that’s easily manageable.

We are regularly approached here at Right Cut Tree and Garden Services by customers struggling to make the most out of their small garden spaces.

Decking it out

This week Right Cut Tree and Garden Services have been working on a decking project over in Worcester. The customer asked us to custom build a decking area in preparation for another project. Like many of our customers with a small family, having a child friendly, safe and enjoyable garden space for their children to play in is paramount.

This particular client wanted to create a decking area big enough to entertain friends and family, but also to have the space to place a two tier wooden Wendy house for their children. The decking area was made from planks of 36 mm wide 6″  deep 1″  Each wooden plank was secured safely with 6″ fixing and deck screws the wood the planks were coated in treatment to preserve the wood and protect it from the elements.

Garden Landscaping – A Customer Case Study

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We have been very busy this week at Right Cut Tree and Garden Services. We have been busy transforming a customer’s garden Worcestershire into a beautiful landscape.

We were asked by the customer to construct a feature, railway sleeper staircase, which was to lead down a very steep area of her garden. This staircase had to make and allow for access to the raised flower beds we were also asked to design and build for her.

The current staircase featured a steep and dangerous layout which potentially presented dangerous risks. To coordinate with the adaptation of a new staircase, we also built the client a new decking area.

As you can see from the before and after pictures, the transformation makes the old garden unrecognisable. Any proud homeowners garden is very much an extension of their living space, and a place for relaxation, entertaining and enjoyment.

From paving to decking, walling, turfing and many other garden landscaping elements, we can help you to create your own unique garden space. Please look through our gallery where you will find a range of before and after pictures to show you what we have to offer.

Top Tips for Getting your Garden Ready for summer

Top Tips for Getting your Garden Ready for summer

The recent changing of the clocks means only one thing; summer is only just around the corner. In the summer months, your garden is exposed to more sun than at any other time of the year, water is a crucial element for keeping your landscape alive. As well as quenching your gardens thirst for water, there are a few things you can do to keep your garden vibrant this summer.

Bring out the Secateurs

At Right Cut Tree and Garden Services, we recommend pruning your garden at this time of year. Pruning your garden helps prevent the spread of diseases amongst plants during the summer. We offer a garden pruning service which includes the pruning of canopies, shrubs, and low-level trees for corrective purposes.

Mulch and Irrigate

Mulching and irrigation are important practices of garden landscaping.  In the UK there are no laws against using a drip irrigation system to water your garden. Drip irrigation watering systems are fitted with a pressure reducing valve and a timer. The system allows water to drip directly onto or beneath your gardens soil surface, without any surface run off or dispersion of water through the air using a jet or mist.

Mulching is a gardening technique whereby a protective layer of organic material is spread on top of your landscape soil, to help retain moisture longer. This technique is proven to give plants better health throughout the seasons.

Get Ready with a Greenhouse

A greenhouse is a great investment for any avid green finger gardener. A greenhouse enables gardeners to get hardy vegetables off to a good start, as well as getting earlier harvests of tender plants such as green beans, aubergine, cucumbers, peppers, chilies and tomatoes through the summer months. At Right Cut Tree and Garden Services we follow the below timeline:

Late spring to early summer – The ideal time to plant your summer greenhouse plants into their final positions indoors.

Mid-summer – Harvest summer crops, remove wilted crops, these can be replaced by later sown plants.

Sow calabrese, French beans, and parsley outside for bringing in when summer crops have finished.

Late summer – If you have space, sow lettuces, spicy salad leaves, and baby carrots indoors to make use of the autumn sun and provide late harvests. Plant new potatoes for Christmas crops in heated greenhouses.

Going on Holiday?

The last thing you want after returning from a relaxing summer holiday is a garden that resembles an overgrown forest. If you would like help maintaining your landscape, we would be more than happy to help. Call us on 07770 826 648 or email [email protected]

The Grass is Always Greener

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This week at Right Cut Tree and Garden Services we have been working on transforming our customers gardens in and around the county of Worcestershire.

One particular customer had a very dehydrated looking lawn, in need of some serious TLC. With a busy work schedule, and working long hours the customer struggled to make the time to maintain his garden.

To make the garden easier to maintain, the customer asked us if we could supply and lay down some artificial grass.

Artificial grass is another speciality of ours and we only offer high quality products. Granted there are cheaper versions out there however, the idea of artificial grass is to replicate the real thing. Many cheaper options can look and feel rubbery and will not last you for the long term nor withstand the elements.

With our 5 year fitting guarantee and the 10 year manufacturers guarantee, you can rest assured you are purchasing a high quality product.

In the Dog House

By | Garden Fencing | No Comments

It has been a busy week this week here at Right Cut Tree and Garden Services. We were approached by a customer who was in need of some help with an escapee issue. The general wear and tear of the old fence created several escape routes of which the customers dog soon discovered.

The customer wanted us to provide a solution to the problem. We took out

the old wooden fence, tired wood hedges and replaced with solid concrete posts, gravel boarding and new fencing panels featuring a beautiful feathered edge.

As you can see in the before and after pictures, the difference is significant and even Houdini couldn’t get past this now!
